Let's face it - cardio isn't the move fun thing around. Most of us would rather be washing dishes, changing diapers, or scrubbing the walls, rather than standing on the same machine for 30 to 45 minutes, plugging away endlessly on a path without finish. Your lungs burn, your arms and legs start to ache, and your mind is forced to deal with such an inordinate amount of boredom.
Yes, we can all agree that cardiovascular training is necessary. Most people require about ten minutes per day, just to maintain healthy heart and lung function. A nice 25 to 30 minute romp with the cardio. Four times per week, is ideal for staying lean as a bodybuilder. And, if you're in the pre-contest phase preparing for a show, you're going to require up to 45 minutes of cardio, 4 to 5 times per week, in order to bring your body fat below 6% and make a mark at your local show.
If you don't relish the thought of trudging away for 45 minutes on the same piece of machinery, why not mix it up? Split your cardio training into several different sessions. They will be completed one after another, with the only break being the time it takes to walk from one machine to the next. Here is how a sample workout could proceed.
5 minutes walking
Start on the treadmill. Use this as your warm-up, to bring your heart rate from normal to your desired range. You'll also bring blood into your arms and legs, which will make the next movement (running) easier and safer on the joints.
5 minutes running
Remain on the treadmill. Bump up your speed, but keep the elevation at zero. You have plenty of time to move up the incline. For now, we're going to keep the heart rate elevated with a steady run when we're at our freshest, for a full five minutes.
7 minutes elliptical climber with high incline - low speed
Now that you've certainly broken a sweat, move over to the elliptical. Get the incline jacked right up, but drop the speed from the treadmill. Thanks to the incline, your heart rate will remain high.
5 minutes elliptical climber with medium incline - high speed
Now it's time to drop the incline down a bit, and speed it up. This will keep the heart rate from falling, as it will be ready to do. It will also give your thighs a break from the painful incline romp they just faced.
6 minutes rowing
At this point your legs will be torched, but you need to keep your heart rate up. Jump to the seated rowing machine, and let your arms, shoulders and back do the work while you heart rate stays up.
5 minutes descending speed stationary bike
Finally, it's time to ramp things down. Hop on the stationary bike, and pedal for the remainder of your time. You just completed your 6th phase of cardio - how do you feel?
Your body does not care what kind of cardio you're doing. As long as your heart rate stays at an elevated level in the desired heartbeat per minute range, you will see the results you desire. Good luck, and keep it fresh!

4 Critical Steps You Must Follow If You Want to Lose Weight! It Will Get Real Easy After This
By Rahul Talwar
Weight loss is a bane in the life of one trying to lose weight. It seems like a mysterious and elusive affair that is such a struggle that one often resorts to extreme measure such as crash diets, weight loss pills or invest in several gadgets that promise instant weight loss.
But in this process a person tends to forget the harm that is being meted out to the body. If you want to lose weight successfully, then the way is to incorporate small changes that will work in the long run. Look towards losing the flab; not the health.
Count your calories, It's absolutely important to keep track: Take the help of a food journal and note your food and drink intake each day. Include what you eat at restaurants or on the go. Being accurate and precise will help you understand where you are going wrong in the food department.
Determine your activity level, Know what you are doing: Losing weight is in direct proportion to your activity levels. So, if your daily routine involves more of sitting and standing, use a calorie counter to determine the number of calories that you are burning each day. Keeping an activity journal at this point helps in streamlining this process and helps you determine the diet that you should be on.
Keep a close eye on your diet: Read "diet" not "starvation". If you want to lose weight, you will have to watch what you eat. Eating food loaded with fat and exercising moderately will not help you cut the flab. Instead, learn to eat smart. Going to a dietitian is a good idea as they will draw a diet chart in accordance with your activity levels and your BMI (Body Mass Index).
Also try to increase your metabolic rate by drinking at least eight glasses of water and having six small meals instead of three large ones.
Exercise...But do it the right way: Exercise is the only way which will guarantee weight loss. But exercise does not necessarily mean going to a gym. The key to a good exercise program is to look for a type of physical activity that you enjoy doing. It could be yoga, dancing, Tai Chi, or any sport that involves physical activity such as tennis or simply running.
Incorporating simple and small changes in your lifestyle ensures that you are on the path to weight loss. Start by substituting your Coke with water, waking up ten minutes early and going for a brisk walk, eating whole wheat bread instead of plain flour will help you in this process a great deal.

Weight Loss - How Do I Achieve it?
By Pradeep Mahajan
Weight loss is a critical issue in today's society with obesity on the rise and people finally realizing what being overweight is doing to their bodies, their health and eventually their lifestyles.
Weight loss is good for many conditions. It is of real benefit in diabetes, high blood pressure, shortness of breath, joint problems and raised cholesterol.
It is and will always remain a major problem for individuals, especially women. Weight loss will happen when you shift your diet towards the wholesome and maintain an active lifestyle. it is possible with exercise and healthy meals alone, but including good-quality protein and building lean muscle mass will help you lose more quickly, helping you to keep the weight off and stay healthy. It is hard, there's no doubt about it, but that's because you have to put the time and effort into it.
Weight loss is considered the cornerstone of treatment in people with Type II diabetes because it allows the body to better use insulin and thus lowers blood sugar. It is a struggle for most, but achievable by all. reduction in weight is virtually guaranteed if one sticks to the regulations of the diet.
Weight Loss basics: eat more calories than you use & you'll put on weight; use more than you eat and you'll lose it. Reducing weight is now a goal which can be reached really easily if we stick to a training regime, diet plan. But for some, surgery may be the only hope. Surgical techniques have evolved over the past few decades, and most are effective, in the sense that they do typically lead to substantial weight loss.
Slow rate of weight loss means you are making changes in the body that are going to last. Cutting calories is the path to weight loss that many people choose. That is right, spinach, dark lettuces and broccoli are great for weight loss. Long term weight loss means living a new life, but that does not mean the life has to be one you are not comfortable living.
In the case of women who are overweight, the gain in muscle mass boosts their metabolism so that combined with aerobic exercise and a reduced calorie diet, weight loss is made easier and they look more fit and toned as they lose weight (and body fat). However, all experts do agree that the best way to maintain weight loss is to follow a healthy lifestyle. Which ever approach you prefer, the key to long-term success is a slow steady weight loss. It is proven that it is important to prepare yourself mentally for your weight loss journey and the lifestyle changes you are about to undergo.
Let's face it, we all know that to achieve a healthy weight loss we need to burn more calories than what we take in. A healthy breakfast is one of the key elements of a healthy diet and consequential weight loss. Much of the early weight loss on a very low calorie diet represents loss of muscle tissue rather than loss of fat. The strategy for weight loss in obese patients is first to change behavior; then, it is to decrease the expectation of rapid change.
For individuals who are morbidly obese, surgery to bypass portions of the stomach and small intestine may at times be the only effective means of producing sustained and significant weight loss. These medications would be specifically tailored to interfere with the energy cycles to facilitate weight loss. The primary factor in achieving and maintaining weight loss is a lifelong commitment to regular exercise and sensible eating habits. You will find that all levels of your life are improved with weight loss which brings you so much personal satisfaction.
If eating habits are not completely and permanently changed, the weight loss provided by a diet is not going to last long. If you suffer from, or think you may suffer from, a medical condition you should consult your doctor before starting a weight loss and/or exercise regime.
Drinking water is one of the most rapid weight loss tips that dieticians suggest to people and leads to 100+ calories extra burned a day. Every twenty soft drinks you skip from your normal intake equates to about one pound of weight loss. Fasting: While fasting plays a major part in some diets, it is generally not recommended for safe weight loss.
Diet
Dietitians are nutritionists who work directly with clients or patients regarding their nutritional needs. Dieting reduces your caloric intake but exercising helps you burn more calories. DIET Weight loss is vital if obesity is present. Dieting is easier than you ever imagined. On a vegetarian diet, weight loss is not supposed to be a problem. A well balanced reduced calorie diet containing moderate fat is recommended. The inclusion of different kinds of fruits into weight-loss diets is a healthy way of dealing with starvation, as well as providing the body those nutrients and vitamins it needs to function properly.
Exercise While You Diet: Weight loss is all about reducing your caloric intake while you increase the calories you burn. First of all decide how much weight you want to lose, and set yourself a realistic target, ideally with the help of your dietitian or doctor. A diet that works for some people does not work for others. A healthy breakfast is one of the key elements of a healthy diet and consequential weight loss. Most fad diets, if followed closely, will result in weight loss-as a result of caloric restriction.
Moreover, dieters who fail to adopt better exercise and eating habits will regain the lost weight-and possibly more. As it begins, large amounts of water will be shed, leading the dieter to think that significant weight reduction is taking place. Consult your doctor, for any health problem and before using any supplements, making dietary changes, or before making any changes in prescribed medications.
One of my main beefs with most diets is that the focus is on outward appearance and numbers (on a scale and calorie counting) instead of total well-being. While doctors put most moderately obese patients on balanced, low-calorie diets(1,200-1,500 calories a day), occasionally they recommend a very low calorie liquid protein diet (400-700 calories), with supplementation of vitamins and minerals, for as long as three months. Much of the early weight loss on a very low calorie diet represents loss of muscle tissue rather than loss of fat.
As many as 85% of dieters who do not exercise on a regular basis regain their lost weight within two years. Repeatedly losing and regaining weight (yo-yo dieting) encourages the body to store fat and may increase a patient's risk of developing heart disease. Eating three balanced, moderate-portion meals a day-with the main meal at mid-day-is a more effective way to prevent obesity than fasting or crash diets, which convince the body that there is an ongoing famine. Modern medicine has found ways to extend our lifespan through dietary restriction.
For the sake of your health, always consult your doctor before making any significant dietary, nutritional or lifestyle changes. The American Heart Association (AHA) generally recommends a diet with less than 30% fat. However, the 2000 AHA Dietary Guidelines also state that there may be some benefits for patients who are insulin resistant to follow a diet that reduces saturated fat while increasing the intake of unsaturated fat rather than carbohydrates, as long as an ideal body weight is attained and maintained. Again, education is needed to improve the nutritional content of the diet.
The patient's lifestyle, food preferences, preparation abilities, snack habits, cravings, etc, should all be considered when developing a dietary plan. It is important that the nutrition counselor tailor the diet to the individual as opposed to adopting a "one-size-fits-all" approach. After weight loss, lower-fat diets may be best. For most people, being overweight is a result of an insufficient amount of exercise, an inadequate lifestyle regime and a poorly balanced diet.
Weight loss is virtually guaranteed if one sticks to the regulations of the diet. If you suffer or think you may suffer from any medical condition you should consult your doctor before starting any exercise or diet regime. Most high-fiber foods are also high in water and low in calories, making them must-have diet foods. Soluble fiber can help to lower cholesterol; insoluble contains indigestible fibers that add bulk to our diets.
Some experts believe dieters have better control if they eat several mini-meals throughout the day. Exercise and a balanced diet are the key factors in fat loss and weight reduction. Drinking water is one of the most rapid weight loss tips that dieticians suggest to people and leads to 100+ calories extra burned a day. The ultimate tip to eventual success: regular exercise and a balanced diet. Add one cheat day to your diet to rid yourself of cravings.
Eat a healthy diet filled with lots of vegetables, fruits, and whole grain products. Fasting: While fasting plays a major part in some diets, it is generally not recommended for safe weight loss.
Surgery
But for many in this situation, weight loss surgery is the only hope. One of the earliest forms was gastric bypass surgery. There are many forms of surgery these days and all have pros and cons. There are still substantial risks, however, as with any major surgery. For those who believe surgery is the best option, consulting with an experienced physician is essential. For individuals who are morbidly obese, surgery to bypass portions of the stomach and small intestine may at times be the only effective means of producing sustained and significant weight loss.
Such obesity surgery, however, can be risky, and it is performed only on patients for whom other strategies have failed and whose obesity seriously threatens health. If hiatus hernia symptoms are chronic and do not respond to diet and medication, surgery may become necessary. If the hernia is in danger of becoming restricted or strangulated, surgery becomes the likely treatment. Today, most surgeons elect to perform laparoscopic surgery, because it is minimally invasive and recovery time is reduced.
Burn
If you imagine yourself losing weight and burning up calories during normal daily activity, you will lose weight and body fat. It has a cellular effect on the body, causing fat cells to release their stored fat to be burned as energy. The food you eat during the day should be burned off through activity. Exercise While You Diet: Weight loss is all about reducing your caloric intake while you increase the calories you burn. Dieting reduces your caloric intake but exercising helps you burn more calories.
Let's face it, we all know that to achieve a healthy weight loss we need to burn more calories than what we take in. Exercise increases the metabolic rate by creating muscle, which burns more calories than fat. When regular exercise is combined with consistent, healthful meals, calories continue to burn at an accelerated rate for several hours. Calories burned depending on your activity level.
Not only does fat provide a sense of fullness, eating enough of a healthy fat called omega-3 fatty acids may cause your metabolism to burn fat more efficiently. If your weight remains constant, you are probably taking in the same amount of calories you burn each day. If you're slowly gaining weight over time, it is likely that your caloric intake is greater than the number of calories you burn through your daily activities.
The number of calories we burn each day is dependent upon our basal metabolic rate (BMR), the number of calories we burn per hour simply by being alive and maintaining body functions and our level of physical activity.
Our weight also plays a role in determining how many calories we burn at rest -- more calories are required to maintain your body in its present state, the greater your body weight. Someone whose job involves heavy physical labor will naturally burn more calories in a day than someone who sits at a desk most of the day (a sedentary job). For people who do not have jobs that require intense physical activity, exercise or increased physical activity can increase the number of calories burned.
To lose one pound, you must burn approximately 3500 calories over and above what you already burn doing daily activities. Use a calorie calculator to figure out how many calories you burn while sitting, standing, exercising, lifting weights, etc. If you're eating fewer calories than you're burning, you'll lose weight.
As it is well known when the body does not get enough calories it starts to burn the fat that was deposited in the fat tissue. Exercise will help you burn excess calories and fat, and will also help to tone and build muscle. Retaining muscle is the key to optimal fat burning metabolism.

How To Get Slim With Healthy Eating Habits
By Ruth Hinson
Many women want to be slim. Maybe you’re one of them. Perhaps you’re getting married soon and you want to fit into your wedding gown comfortably. Or perhaps you simply want to look (and feel) great in a swimsuit or bikini.
Whatever your reason for wanting to be slim, there are some things you can do to become slim while staying healthy. If you are reading this article, chances are you want to know what those things are. Read on then, to find out.
First thing is to assess your current eating habits. This is important because you need to know what’s not working. If your current eating habits are keeping you overweight, and you want to be slim, it figures that you need to change those eating habits. If something is not working, change it.
Assessing your current eating habits.
Keep a record of your eating habits for a week. The record should contain the following information:
What you are eating
How much you’re eating
When you eat (note the times) – you want to know how far apart your meals and snacks are.
Why you’re eating at those times – is it because you’re hungry, or are you ‘comfort eating’?
How you feel after eating – pleasantly satisfied or bloated and stuffed.
How many glasses of water you drink each day
When you find out your current eating habits, you’ll need to determine which habits are sabotaging your efforts to lose weight. Those are the ones you want to change. More on that later.
Goal Setting
Determine what your weight goal is. Or you may prefer to monitor your progress in terms of your waistline or hip measurements. Whichever one suits you is best.
Form a mental picture of yourself looking the way you want to look. Goals are more powerful and empowering when we visualize them. Hold that mental picture in your mind at all times.
NOTE: Eating healthily is not all there is to getting slim. You must become more physically active (read ‘exercise’) in addition to eating properly if you’re to lose weight permanently. This article deals with the healthy eating part of that equation.
Action Plan
Now that you know what your ideal size is, you have a goal that you’re working towards. You need to then determine a plan of action to help you achieve that goal.
To help you decide on the right plan, bear in mind that eating should be a pleasure. Ask yourself the following questions:
Which nutritious foods do I enjoy eating ?
How soon after eating do I get hungry again? Most adults get hungry about 3 to 4 hours after eating a meal.
Do I eat only when I’m hungry? Hint: You should.
How can I stay full? Drink lots of water. Scientists recommend between 6 and 8 glasses of water daily. Your body needs it, and it helps you stay full.
With the answers to those questions in mind, form an action plan, and start a new daily record to help you keep track of your progress. This new record should contain the same columns as your initial current habits record. This way you can monitor each improvement and celebrate accordingly.
When deciding on which actions to take, you need to refer back to your initial assessment of your current eating habits. Decide which habits are preventing you from losing weight. Write down alternative habits that you want to cultivate, which will help you get slim.
These new habits you want to form are now your ‘targets’ – milestones on your way to your ideal body shape and size.
Taking Action
To form healthy eating habits, start with small changes.
Don’t make too many changes at once. Set yourself main targets, such as ‘I will drink 8 glasses of water each day’, then set smaller targets to help you reach each main target.
Using the example above, a small target could be ‘I will drink an extra glass of water after each meal’. When you break down your targets, they don’t seem so daunting. They seem easily achievable, so you feel encouraged to stick to them.
Decide on the foods you will be eating regularly. Make sure they’re foods you enjoy.
Eat small portions, about 5 or 6 times each day, instead of three large meals. This helps keep your metabolic rate high, and helps you lose weight naturally.
How to stay motivated to continue eating healthily
Believe that you can do it, and accept responsibility for your health and for the way your body looks.
Reward yourself each time you successfully complete a small target. Celebrate each small success – don’t wait until you’ve lost tons of weight before you reward yourself. Make the journey enjoyable by treating yourself each time you make progress.
Keep in mind what you hope to achieve – remind yourself of how lovely and healthy your body is becoming each day as a result of your new eating habits. Remember, each small step in the right direction is bringing you closer to your main target.
With a clear goal in mind, a feasible action plan and tips to help you stay motivated, you should find it easy to form habits that keep you slim and healthy at the same time.
Here’s to your new healthy eating habits!

It's Never Too Late to Get Healthy!
It's Never Too Late to Get Healthy!- By: Jackie Orman
Description : Fitness and wellness are important at any age, and if you want to be an active baby boomer even into your senior years, you need to pay attention to your physical fitness levels and start an exercise program if you don't have one in place already.
You might think that it's impossible to get in shape if you've spent most of your life unhealthy or not working out much, but the truth is it is never too late to start taking better care of your body.
Exercises for seniors might be a little bit different from the ones you did when you were younger, but they're just as effective at helping you lose weight, improving your stamina, giving you better balance and providing more energy to get you through your day.
There are many great reasons to work out and be healthy throughout your life, but getting and being healthy as you reach your golden years is particularly important. Getting regular exercise can help prevent disease, potentially extending your life. If you have health problems now like diabetes and high blood pressure, you may be able to reduce or eliminate symptoms and stop taking medications (always check with your doctor before stopping any prescribed drug).
Being in good health means you'll have more energy for the things you want to do now that you're facing retirement, whether that's spending more time on a hobby, visiting the grandkids more often or traveling the world.
Exercise can help you lose weight or keep you from gaining weight as you age, which is a big concern as being overweight puts more stress on your body.
Physical fitness is also great for your mental health. It can help reduce feelings of depression and anxiety and improve your psychological state, boost your mood and make you feel more energetic.
Working out, even if it's just going for a walk or doing some light weight exercise while watching television, is a great activity to do with your spouse, and the health benefits of exercise for baby boomers translate equally for both men and women.
You don't need a lot of equipment to get started and you don't have to make a big investment in time or money. You don't need to join a health club where you'll be surrounded by hard bodies half your age that just wish you'd get out of their way.
Little steps toward health and fitness can make a big difference, and you can start today just by heading out the door for a walk around the neighborhood. Why not take control of your health and well-being now, while you still can?

Do Not Make These Mistakes About Exercise And Weight Loss -- Discover Valuable Resources Now
by Nathan Knightley
Slim Weight loss healthy
We constantly hear about weight loss programs. It seems that they find new ways to lose weight every day. But when I look around, I see more and more fat people. Actually losing weight is about more than cutting calories. If you want to lose weight, you could start by cutting colories, but you are going to have to add exercise to your day. If you want the calories you are ingesting to be burned off rather than being stored as fat, as time goes on you will have to add and then enhance your weight loss exercise. If you cut calories without doing exercise, you will not go very far with your weight loss plans.
Your weight loss exercise can be simple and quick when you first start out. You should start out small if you are not use to exercising. Go easy on yourself. You can begin by walking a few blocks each day. As the weeks go by you will want to slowly add more and more time to your walks. If you want to succeed, don't think that you don't have time for this kind of weight loss exercise. You can go for a walk after your kids have gone to bed or take them with you, or at work during your lunch hour. That could keep everybody healthy. You can go walk the dog if you don't have children. If you don't have a dog... well get a dog.
You will also have to step up your weight loss exercise as you get more serious about your weight loss diet. You can do other activities than just your walks. You can join a gym or buy some kind of exercise equipment to have in the house. Even though walking is a great exercise for weight loss, you can find other things to do that gets your heart moving and a sweat going for real results. Nothing drastic but just enough to get you pumping. You have to get your heart rate up and keep it up in order to get your metabolism moving. Take it easy when you start, but work harder every week. Perseverance and patience are essential. Easy does it too.
No matter which weight loss exercise you choose, the most important thing is that you do it. You can buy something or pick something, but it won't do you any good until you commit to it. You have to find time or to make time, and make no excuses. Excuses are for the lame. You can find time for weight loss exercise if you really want to. Motivation is the key. Even the busiest individuals on earth find the time. You may have to get rid of something in your day, or get up earlier in the morning, but you can find time to do it. If you are serious about your goals, you will find the time. Now stop reading and go do your weight loss exercise soldier! onkeyup="cntWords(this,document.postform.c)">

Healthy Weight Loss - Top Weight Loss Tips
by Bertil Hjert
